Preparing Your Land Rover For Spring

April is National Car Care Month, and there's nothing like the feeling of riding with the windows down for the first time as the weather gets nicer. However, after a winter of cold temperatures and harsh conditions, it’s important to give your Land Rover a bit of extra care. By taking these simple steps, you can ensure your Land Rover is in its best possible spring condition. 

First of all, be sure to schedule an oil and oil filter change. Motor oil keeps engine parts lubricated and cooled. However, since it picks up impurities in your engine as it does this, it becomes less effective as it ages. After a while, motor oil will be unable to do its job of protecting the engine. Regular oil changes and oil filter changes are extremely important, so be sure to schedule one for your Land Rover as soon as possible. 

Cold temperatures can put extra strain on your vehicle's battery. Therefore, it's a good idea to have your battery tested before taking the vehicle out on the road and replaced if necessary. After all, it's much better to find out that your Land Rover's battery is on its last legs from a test rather than by finding out through your vehicle not starting one morning.

Your wipers typically see a workout during the winter months, since they keep the windshield clear of ice. Make sure they are performing their function correctly and are free of any tears. Replace them if they are torn and/or worn down. Fill up the washer fluid as well. 

Finally, check the headlights and taillights to make sure they are clear and able to help you see at night. If they need replacing, do so.
